Thank you for your interest in Black Odyssey Media! We are actively seeking exclusive content for our print and new media publishing enterprise, as well as for our upcoming subsidiary, Black Odyssey Nova – a digital-first imprint specifically designed for hybrid authors who produce fast-paced works, and emerging writers comfortable with shorter-length stories (novellas), or simply those who are looking for a publishing home to grow with. Both imprints celebrate diversity and universal themes across all genres, from niche to commercial stories. Our areas of interest include Literary Fiction, Upmarket Fiction, Historical Fiction, Contemporary Romance, Romantic Comedy, Holiday Romance, Erotic Romance, Fantasy Romance, Women’s Crime Thrillers, Psychological and Suspense Thrillers, Domestic Thrillers, Religious Thrillers, Cozy Mysteries, OWN Voices, LGBTQ+, Urban Lit, Multicultural Fiction, Entangled Relationship Tropes, 90s-Retro Romance, Coming-of-Age, New Adult, Speculative Fiction, Celebrity/Influencer Novel-Mashups, select Memoirs, Narrative Non-Fiction, and Novelizations.
We welcome submissions from both agented and unagented authors. To have your literary work(s) considered, please submit a formal query letter, a full-page synopsis, and the first six chapters of a polished, proofread, and properly formatted manuscript. While we prefer completed projects, we will also consider works-in-progress if it is 80% done and the author can adhere to hard deadlines. Due to the high volume of submissions, we will only request the full manuscript for projects we wish to further consider.
Black Odyssey Media's inaugural list made its debut in the Summer of 2023. For more highlights, please visit our press coverage in Publishers Weekly: https://publishersweekly.com/blackodysseymedia.com.
Thank you again for considering Black Odyssey Media, and we look forward to the opportunity to explore and showcase exciting new voices in literature.

How should my manuscript be formatted?
To ensure an efficient evaluation of your manuscript, please strictly adhere to our submission guidelines. Submissions should be polished, indented, paginated, etc., and submitted in either a Word document or PDF format. Use Times New Roman font, 12pt. size, and double-spacing. Before submitting, carefully review our detailed guidelines to guarantee compliance.
What is the turnaround time?
Given the substantial number of submissions we receive, our standard turnaround for responding to sample chapter reviews is 6-8 weeks. Should we express interest in reviewing the entire manuscript, we will contact you via the email provided in the initial query. While we regret that we cannot respond to every email due to the busy nature of our review process, it is essential to note that polished submissions adhering to our guidelines will be given top priority. A helpful hint: prioritizing meticulous adherence to our guidelines increases the likelihood of prompt attention to your submission.
WE WILL NOT REVIEW UNAGENTED SUBMISSIONS BETWEEN THESE DATES:
